Interesting statistics from European contraception study

The following statistics come from a recent pan-European study on contraception.*

Fact 1.

Currently the most widely used contraceptive method in Europe is the pill with 24% followed by the male condom with 23%.

Fact 2.

23% of women in Europe of fertile age are currently not using a contraceptive method at all.

Fact 3.

The average age for first time sex is 18 years of age in Europe.

Fact 4.

Condoms are the most popular contraceptive method for first time use with 45% of women opting to use them.

Fact 5.

35% of women opt for the pill for first time contraception use, with a staggering 12% of women in Europe using the withdrawal methods for first time contraception.

Fact 6.

One third of all women in Europe have not see a healthcare professional in the last 12 months to talk about contraceptive advise or to review their contraceptive method.
